Highlights: Several state and local dignitaries attended the banquet. Some of the prominent guests in attendance were the Chicago Mayor, Richard M. Daley, Senator Paul Simon, and Ms. Carol Mosley Braun. The emerging political presence of the Asian American community was evident in the fact that all four major media TV stations covered event, plus the major dailies. The first Pan Asian American Award and nine community service awards were also presented in which Bangladesh was introduced for the first time. Each member community presented a colorful display of their own culture, which was greatly appreciated by the audience. In addition, a nice colorful 34 page program booklet was distributed to each guest. As in the past, the Asian American Coalition promoted Asian cultural and political awareness, particularly in the Chicago area. The entire detail of document along with structure and task list was presented to host of the 1993 Annual Celebration, the Korean community.
